Northern Ireland has a long history of conflict. The most recent is referred to as “The Troubles” – over thirty years of violence that ended with the Good Friday Agreement, signed in 1998. As Northern Ireland’s capital, Belfast was hugely impacted by The Troubles. We will both be working in contexts that seek to reconcile relationships impacted by this traumatic history. We hope to include our learnings along the way.
Here are some fun notes from our preparatory research of Belfast…
Belfast is the capital and largest city in Northern Ireland
City of Belfast population: approx. 334,000
Belfast Metropolitan Area population: approx. 579,000
